Ross County have re-signed midfielder Martin Woods.

Woods left Dingwall in the summer to join Shrewsbury but decided to return to Scotland and County swooped for his services amid competition from other Premiership clubs.

The 29-year-old former Doncaster player has signed a two-year deal with an option for a third year after cancelling his contract with the Sky Bet League One club.

Woods was Jim McIntyre's first signing as County boss in October last year and scored twice in 26 appearances to help them move away from relegation danger.

McIntyre said: Martin was instrumental in the great run of form that this club enjoyed in the second half of last season so we know what he is capable of and it is great news to have been able to get him back to the club on a long-term contract.

When we learned Martin would be open to a move back to Scotland we didn't hesitate in putting a deal in place for him.''

As Woods arrives, Stoke goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann has departed after terminating his loan deal.

The 21-year-old kept clean sheets in both his appearances but was unable to dislodge Scott Fox.

County have also extended Kyle MacLeod's loan spell with Elgin until January.
