Hundreds of kids in Fife were treated to a Zoom call with Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.

The 23-year-old reached out to the Kirkcaldy kids as part of his free school meals campaign.

It was put together with the help of the Cottage Family Centre in the town and former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Craig Simpson is the chairperson of Templehall United and was on the call with other youth teams.

Craig said: "Ourselves, Raith Rovers Community Foundation and Raith Girls - there were about 200 kids involved, 200 excited kids.

"The intention was Marcus was wanting to dip into Scotland in relation to his campaign.

"I can't believe how genuine he was, I think most of us when we look at these figures we just stereotype I suppose.

"For a 23-year old who's one of the biggest players in the world at the moment to take 50 minutes of his time to speak to kids in Kirkcaldy, hundreds of miles away from Manchester.

"He's an ideal role model for children today.

"Football gets a lot of bad press but for him to do that and to take the time to answer some really tricky questions from the kids - it was brilliant."

Craig told MFR that Rashford was asked about a possible transfer to the Scottish Championship.

He said: "What the kids were wanting to know was when he was going to sign for Raith Rovers - I don't think he'll be joining Raith Rovers any time soon."
