A construction manager for supermarket chain Lidl was clocked driving at nearly 100 miles per hour during a trip to a site inspection in Thurso.

Ross Jackson was fined £240 at Perth's Justice of the Peace Court today after he admitted speeding at 95 miles per hour on 23 October last year.

The court was told that Jackson was driving in the course of his £50,000 a year job with the German discount store group when he was caught on camera.

Jackson's solicitor told the court that his client was on his way to Thurso in the Scottish Highlands to carry out work for Lidl and that the road was quiet at the time.

Jackson, 34, Manse Crescent, Houston, Renfrewshire, admitted speeding in his Audi A4 on the Perth to Stirling A9 at Whitemoss and he had five penalty points imposed on his licence.
