Man to stand trial over murder of Elgin mum-of-two
Owen Grant, 42, is accused of fatally attacking Lucretia Donaghy - known as Kiesha - at the property in Anderson Drive in Elgin last November.
A man is to stand trial charged with the murder of an Elgin mum-of-two in her own home.
Owen Grant, 42, is accused of fatally attacking Lucretia Donaghy - known as Kiesha - at the property in Anderson Drive in Elgin, Moray on November 15 2023.
Prosecutors claim the 32 year-old was repeatedly struck on the head and body "with an unknown object".
The case called for a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow on Monday 23 September.
Grant's defence lawyer told the court his client denied the charge against him.
Iain Paterson KC, defending, said: "This is a single charge of murder and he (Grant) pleads not guilty.
"We are effectively ready to proceed to trial."
Trial set for May next year
Prosecutor Christopher Wilson said the Crown was also content for a trial be set.
Lord Arthurson asked Mr Wilson if jurors were likely to see any "distressing footage" as part of the evidence.
The advocate depute said, if there was, it would come in the form of still photos rather than video clips.
The judge went on to fix a trial scheduled to start in May 2025 in Edinburgh.
The case could last around 10 days.
