Man seriously injured in A9 crash near Tomatin

A man has been seriously injured in a car crash on the northbound dual carriageway of the A9 near the village of Tomatin.

A man has been seriously injured in a car crash on the northbound dual carriageway of the A9, near the village of Tomatin.

At about 8:25pm on Sunday the 06 December 2015, Police Scotland received a report of an accident involving one vehicle, which occurred on the northbound dual carriageway of the A9 by Tomatin.

One man, who was driving a silver Ford Fiesta, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Raigmore hospital.

He has since been transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for further treatment.

Other emergency services attending at the scene were the Scottish Ambulance Service and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, who extracted the injured man from the car.

Following the collision, the northbound section of the dual carriageway between Tomatin and Slochd remained closed until around 05:40 hours to allow a collision investigation to take place.

Diversions were in place for northbound traffic via Tomatin Village. There was no effect on southbound traffic.
