Man's body recovered from Caledonian Canal

Police say there are no apparent suspicious circumstances around his death

A man's body has been recovered from the Caledonian Canal in Inverness.

A 36-year-old man was found in the water, near Canal Road, just after 6:30am this morning.

Emergency services attended, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of the sudden death of a 36-year-old man in the water in the Canal Road area of Inverness around 6.40am on Friday, 3 September, 2021.

"The man was recovered from the water with the aid of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service but was pronounced dead at the scene.

"There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
