Man pronounced dead at the scene following Fochabers incident

A man has died after an incident in a Moray village.

Emergency services were alerted to "concern for a person" in Fochabers at around 11:15 this morning.

Police Scotland say there would not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

A spokesperson said: "Around 11.15am on Wednesday, 3 July 2024, we were called to Old Spey Bridge, Fochabers, following concern for a person.

“A man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“There would not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

Specialist teams from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) along with ambulances and an air ambulance were seen in the village throughout the afternoon.

A SFRS spokesperson said: "At 11.29am on Wednesday, 3 July Operations Control mobilised two appliances and specialist rope and water rescue teams to assist emergency service partners at an incident on the A96, near Fochabers, Moray, where one casualty was handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service."

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 1122 hours on Wednesday to attend an incident in Fochabers and dispatched a number of resources to the scene.”
