Man killed in A9 crash named as Ryan Smith

The 25-year-old died following the collision near Alness point

A man who died in a two vehicle crash has been named as Ryan Smith from Alness.

The 25-year-old was driving a grey Peugeot 208 which was involved in a collision with another car on the A9 near Alness Point at about 5.10pm on Friday.

Mr Smith died while the man and woman in a grey Ford Edge suffered minor injuries.

Sergeant Alan Henderson said: 'Our thoughts remain with Mr Smith's family and friends.

'Our investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this tragic incident and we would urge anyone who has information but has not yet spoken to an officer to come forward.

'We are grateful to everyone who has assisted with our inquiries so far.

'Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2861 of November 29.'
