Man in hospital after motorbike crash in Caithness

There is an appeal for witnesses after the accident on Thursday evening.

Around 9.50pm a black Kawasaki motorcycle crashed on the B870 at Westerdale near Halkirk.

The 36-year-old man was initially taken to Caithness General Hospital but was subsequently transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious injuries.

Road Policing Sergeant Gus Murray said: 'Our enquiries into this collision are ongoing and at an early stage.

'We would urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision but has not yet spoken to police or who saw a black motorcycle in the Westerdale area around that time to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident NJ/500/19.'
