A pedestrian has been left in critical condition after being hit by a car in Elgin in the early hours of December 30.

The 30 year old man was taken to hospital after the incident involving a red Seat Toledo on New Elgin Road, at around 3.10am.

The driver of the car, a 51 year old man, was not injured.

The road was closed following the accident, and reopened around 10.30am.

Road Policing Sergeant Alexander Bowser-Riley said: “I’m appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either the car or pedestrian beforehand, to come forward.

“In particular I would be extremely keen to speak to the driver of a white Ford Focus who was in the area at the time and may have vital information.

“Similarly, I’d ask anyone with dashcam footage on the A941 around the time to review this and bring anything of significance to our attention.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference 0547 of 30 December.
