A pensioner’s fighting for his life following a two car crash on the A9.

The 78-year old driver was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital with serious injuries, but his condition later deteriorated and medics say he remains in a life-threatening condition.

A male passenger, also in his seventies, remains in hospital where he is recovering from his injuries.

It’s understood the accident, involving a red Vauxhall Corsa and a white Landrover Discovery happened just south of the Cromarty Bridge at around 7pm last night. The female driver of the Discovery wasn’t injured and did not require hospital treatment. Police are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.
