Man dies in hospital after Highland cliff fall

Man who was airlifted after falling from a cliff dies at Raigmore Hospital.

A man's died at Raigmore Hospital after falling from a cliff in North West Sutherland.

The man in his sixties was injured after the incident near Durness yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were called out to the scene at Daill after being alerted by a member of the public who spotted the victim.

The Coastguard helicopter from Shetland also came to his rescue by airlifting the patient to hospital, but sadly he succumbed to his injuries.

Police say there are "no apparent suspicious circumstances" and a report's being sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Officers have told MFR News that the man's identity will not be confirmed until next of kin are fully aware.
