Man Dies In Aviemore House Fire
The blaze broke out in the property in Starthspey Avenue around 8:30am this morning.
A man has died in a house fire in Aviemore this morning.
Crews were called to Strathspey Avenue about 8:30am.
Fire crews discovered the body after searching the building, which has been mostly destroyed.
A joint police and fire investigation into the cause has been launched.
A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue said: "An appliance from Aviemore, one from Kingussie and one from Grantown on Spey were sent to the scene in the town’s Strathspey Avenue at 8.32am.
"Firefighters in breathing apparatus used one hose reel jet and one main jet to extinguish the fire. Crews then ventilated the property.
"Sadly during a search of the property firefighters discovered one male fatality inside.
"Firefighters evacuated neighbouring properties as a precaution.
"A joint investigation between Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland will now take place to establish the cause of the fire."
