A man has been detained by police following a six hour stand-off in the Highland capital.
Armed officers were in attendance after emergency services were alerted to a disturbance at a property on Kenneth Street at around midday today.
As well as part of the A82, Muirtown Street and Ross Avenue were cordoned off, with the public warned to stay away.
Police, ambulance and the fire service remained on the scene until around 7pm this evening after specialists were able to negotiate with the individual to leave the property.
Kenneth Street is now open to traffic.
A spokesperson from Police Scotland said: "Around 11.50am on Thursday, 9 May, 2024, we were called to a report of a disturbance in the Muirtown Street area of Inverness.
"Emergency services attended and a 56-year-old man was taken to hospital.
"The same man was arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
"There is no wider risk to the public and locals are thanked for their patience.
"The road fully reopened around 6.45pm."
