Man Detained By Armed Police In 'Offensive Weapon' Incident

Area of Kyle of Lochalsh cordoned off as 38 year old man detained last night.

Armed police were called to a disturbance after reports of a man with a weapon in Kyle of Lochalsh.

Part of the village was cordoned off and police dogs were used around half 7 yesterday evening.

A 38 year old man was detained and no one was injured.

A police spokesperson said: 'Officers attended a disturbance at a property in Kyle of Lochalsh with support from the Armed Response Unit and Dog Section, following reports of a man being in possession of an offensive weapon. 'For the safety of residents, a section of the village was cordoned off for a period of time. Police Scotland would like to thank residents of Kyle of Lochalsh for their patience and understanding during the matter. 'Subsequently, as a result of the disturbance, a 38 year-old man was detained and a report is due to be sent to Procurator Fiscal. 'Police can confirm no-one was injured during the incident.'
