Man charged over serious assault in Moray village

The 41-year-old is expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court on Friday.

A man's been charged in connection with a serious assault in the Moray village of Portnockie.

A woman was taken to hospital in Elgin with serious injuries following an incident in the town on Wednesday afternoon.

The 45-year-old's injuries aren't thought to be life-threatening.

A 41-year-old man's now been charged over the incident.

He's expected to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court tomorrow.

Detective Inspector Alan Armit said: "I would once again like to reassure the public that this incident was contained and completely isolated.

"There will be a notable police presence in the area for the time being. The local community are thanked for their patience so far."
