A man has been charged after heroin worth £50,400 was found in Inverness.

The drugs were seized last night, Thursday 21st September at Inverness Bus Station by officers acting on intelligence.

A 27-year-old man has been detained in custody and will appear at Inverness Sheriff Court in due course.

The latest recovery follows closely on from a week of enforcement, which led to £147,000 worth of drugs being seized across the Highlands.

Detective Chief Inspector Michael Sutherland said: "We have made it very clear that drugs will not be tolerated in our communities and we have warned drug dealers that we are out to get them off our streets.

"That has not and will never change - we will always take action against anyone involved in the trade of illegal drugs.

"This latest recovery is yet more evidence of our commitment to tackling this illegal trade and sends another message to the drug dealers that they are not welcome."
