Man arrested over sex assault of 8-year-old boy at Highland campsite
The child was attacked while sleeping in a tent next to his parents' tent at the Loch Ness Bay campsite near Drumnadrochit in July
Police investigating the sexual assault of an 8-year-old boy at a campsite in the Highlands have made an arrest.
The boy was attacked between 12.20am and 1am on Thursday July 31st, as he slept in a tent next to his parents’ tent at the Loch Ness Bay campsite near Drumnadrochit.
Last month Police Scotland said more than 1,500 hours of CCTV footage had been seized as part of their investigation, while an extensive door-to-door operation also saw officers visit nearly 100 properties.
It has now been confirmed a 44-year-old man is being questioned in connection.
Detective Superintendent Calum Smith said: "We would like to thank the local community for their support during our investigation, in particular local businesses and those who came forward with information."
Enquiries are ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
