Man arrested after gas supplies cut in Forres incident
Some locals were evacuated because of fears of an explosion
A man has been arrested after an estimated eighty homes had their gas supplies disconnected following a police incident in Forres
Some neighbours were evacuated following the incident on Stuart Street on Monday night because of concerns over a possible explosion.
A 26-year-old man was arrested five and a half hours later.
The Scottish Gas Network will be in the area on Tuesday to re-connect the affected addresses.
A police spokesman said: "During the evening of Monday 28th August 2017 Police Scotland, North East Division dealt with an incident at Stuart Street, Forres which resulted in a number of properties' gas supplies being disconnected and a small number of persons evacuated.
"A 26-year-old male was arrested from a property within the street.'
