Two people who died in a one car crash on the A9 this week have been named.

Patrick Davidson, from the Garve area and Hazel Allan, from Thurso, have been named as the victims from Tuesday morning's incident at Achavanich, north of Latheron.

46-year-old Davidson and 50-year-old Allan were travelling in a white Land Rover Defender when the crash happened shortly after 11:40.

The road was closed until 21:30 to allow for police investigations.

Police Scotland are now appealing to anyone who may have information on the incident to come forward.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay said "Our thoughts remain with Patrick and Hazel’s families at this very difficult time.

"Our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances and I would urge anyone who may be able to help and hasn’t yet spoken to police to come forward.

"If you have any information then please call 101, quoting reference 1064 of 29 November."
