Man accused of Inverness double-murder deemed unfit for trial
Latvian David Sinders is accused of stabbing Dwayne MacLeay and Gary MacKay in Hilton's Balloan Road last May
A man accused of an Inverness double murder is unfit to stand trial.
David Sinders is charged with killing Gary MacKay and Dwayne MacLeay at a house in the Hilton area last May. It's claimed the 24 year-old repeatedly stabbed the pair with a knife.
Sinders also allegedly attempted to murder Kimberley Nicholson at the same property.
The Latvian national appeared via video link for a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow as he is currently in the State Hospital at Carstairs.
Three psychiatrists have completed reports having met with Sinders, but they all conclude Mr Sinders is unfit for trial.
The court heard about "the role mental health factors" may have had in the offences, with Sinders said to suffer from schizophrenia.
Despite that, he denied having a "mental disorder".
A temporary compulsion order has been issued for Sinders to remain at Carstairs. No further details of the crimes have been revealed, but this is expected to happen at a later examination of facts hearing.
The case will call again in May when it is hoped the hearing will be set.
