Police say they've found a body in the search for missing 61-year-old Mairi Mackay from Fort William

Police searching for missing Fort William woman Mairi Mackay say they've found a body.

Officers made the discovery around 8:55am this morning (Sunday October 18) on the shoreline of Loch Linnhe, south of Fort William.

The 61-year-old was reported missing from the Caol area of the town and was last seen around 9pm on Friday.

Formal identification is yet to take place but Police Scotland has confirmed it is Mairi, and that her family has been made aware.

The death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
