A driver has been taken to hospital after his lorry crashed into a house following a collision with another vehicle.

Police said there was a brief collision between the two lorries before one crashed into the side of the building.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) was called to the scene on the A831 two miles south of Drumnadrochit in the Highlands just after 8am today.

They used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the driver, working closely with paramedics.

A trauma team was also flown in by air ambulance to help.

The man was then taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness by road for treatment.

The driver of the other lorry suffered minor facial injuries.

Fire service officials worked to stabilise the building, a semi-detached house, which was not occupied at the time.

The SFRS had five appliances at the scene including a heavy rescue unit from Inverness.

Police said the road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.
