Loch Ness RNLI Take On Monster Challenge To Raise Cash
A team of swimmers from Loch Ness RNLI will undertake a monster relay of Loch Ness to raise money for the charity's new boathouse this weekend.
A team of swimmers from Loch Ness RNLI will undertake a monster relay of Loch Ness to raise money for the charity's new boathouse this weekend.
Led by volunteer crew member Jamie Young, the team will swim overnight in relay from Fort Augustus to Dores beach, to raise funds for the Loch Ness Boathouse Appeal.
Other swimmers signed up to take part include Kris Gordon, Michelle Gordon, Al Marshall, Josh Gibbs and Linda Izquierdo-Ross as a reserve.
The team started training a few months ago to prepare for the marathon swim.
Jamie said: "We urgently need a new boathouse as our lifeboat is currently kept outside in all weathers, and needs frequent repair and maintenance. We will be able to provide a sheltered environment in which to maintain the boat if it is kept indoors, prolonging the boat's life."
The charity has already raised the majority of the expected cost of the new boathouse from major donors, and the team hope to raise ÂŁ5000 locally with sponsorships for the swim. The Just Giving link is at .
