Locals are stepping up their campaign for safer roads in the Black Isle, by patrolling the Crask junction near the village of Culbokie.

Residents will be standing by the side of the road, wearing high-visibility jackets for an hour on several days throughout the next four weeks.

The spot is situated on the B9169 on the Culbokie-Cromarty road, and was the scene of a fatal crash in 2008.

Gordon Morris, who lives near the junction says drivers are playing Russian roulette every time they exit the road.

A slow sign and rumble strips were marked on the road last month by the council.

Mr Morris and neighbours believe the best solution would be to level the road to remove a blind summit and the dip in the road at the junction, but have been told by the council that the project would cost hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Local councillors have promised to carry out a feasibility study, looking at exact costs to make the junction safer.
