A Sutherland farmer's calling on Network Rail bosses to act after 2-of his cows were killed by a train.

John Scott from Fearn Farm is hoping to be compensated after the collision on the north line.

He's calling on Network Rail bosses to make sure that fencing's maintained where his farm meets the railway, because it's actually the responsibility of the line's operator.

It's not the first time the farmer's lost cattle to this kind of incident.

John told MFR News: "I'm very relieved that no one was hurt in this incident. It happened on the last train going north so it was a 9 o'clock train passing. The train could have come off the tracks. People could have been hurt.
