Volunteers were out in force for a 4th day looking for missing Embo man Lachlan Simpson.

More than 60 helped search for the 22 year old who disappeared after leaving the Dornoch Show dance at the weekend.

Helicopter and sniffer dogs have also been drafted in to comb the area.

Volunteers searched the local area and handed out leaflets asking residents to check their outbuildings and sheds.

It's believed he may have headed toward Tain, and officers focused on that area today.

They were supported by police, Assynt Mountain Rescue team, Coastguard, Caithness and Sutherland Rescue Team, SARDA and police dogs in addition to the Police underwater divers and Police helicopter.

Commenting on this morning's search, Chief Inspector Iain MacLelland said: "Police and partners have once more been overwhelmed by the tremendous response and assistance provided by the community.

"People have travelled from across Scotland to assist and we are very thankful to everyone who is dedicating their time to help.

"Further searches are taking place this afternoon with the deployment of the Police helicopter and divers to search areas of more challenging terrain.

"We now believe Lachlan left the area of the dance and headed towards Tain, as the crow flies, so the area around the links and shore line is where we are concentrating our searches today."

People have been lighting candles and saying prayers at Dornoch Cathedral.
