Ross County took a half-fought 1-0 victory from the start of their defence of the League Cup, thanks to Brian Graham's late penalty at Montrose, but manager Jim McIntyre's happy to see slow-and-steady progress towards the start of the Premiership.

This Saturday the Staggies prepare for Raith Rovers at home, a side who sprung a surprise 4-1 scoreline in the same competition back in 2012.

McIntyre hopes his side will have learned a valuable lesson from playing lower-league Montrose about how best to breakdown stubborn opposition:-
