LISTEN: Routis hopes for Ross County role despite summer setback
Ross County newboy Chris Routis is eager for his chance, despite playing catch-up for the new season.
Having made his debut off the bench in the weekend's 1-1 draw with Raith Rovers, French midfielder Chris Routis hopes to push himself into the plans of Ross County manager Jim McIntyre for the season ahead.
The former Bradford and Servette player joined in the Summer, but already had his eye on the switch to Scotland.
"I spoke at the end of the season with the manager, he really made me feel like they wanted me here, and told me what the club wanted"
"I know Andrew Davies (from Bradford City) and he said it was a good club, great staff, great manager, and I saw that for myself"
"It's very professional and the club have the ambition, it could be a good move, I just need to prove myself to the manager"
Routis has been working hard to get up to speed with the rest of the side following a slight niggle over the close season which has hampered his progress.
"Personally I'm getting to feel better-and-better because I'm starting late compared to the rest of the team"
"I was working, just by myself in the close season, and I just felt my calf a bit. On my return to the club we just made some tests and we just needed to be careful, because if you need to sprint sometimes it can go again"
"So that was 12-15 days out and then I just worked on my own with Doddsy to get quickly back into training with the rest of the guys"
Routis is known for being a defender, but Jim McIntyre is keen to see him feature in the midfield this season - as well as provide cover at the back when necessary:-
