A Highland MP's calling for the UK Government to reconsider plans to deport an Australian family living in Dingwall.

Ross, Skye and Lochaber MP Ian Blackford has described the case of Gregg and Kathryn Brain as “a modern day Highland Clearance”.

He's written to the Home Office and UK Ministers urging them to grant the family more time to appeal the decision.

The Brain family arrived in the North back in 2007 as part of the Highland Homecoming initiative, with Kathryn planning to stay and work in Scotland after completing her studies.

Kathryn's student visa has now expired and the Home Office has rejected her appeal to remain in the country with her husband and son, Lachlan.

They've been told they must appeal the decision from Australia.
