Three month long project is realised with the launch of an app to help with mental health issues

As of Monday the 14th of November, a new app is available from Mikeysline, aimed at helping young people cope with mental health issues. Initially Mikeysline was a text-for-help support service, but now this is a further extension of their network.

Michael "Mikey" Williamson and Martin Shaw (both 23 from Inverness) were found dead within days of each other in October last year.

Mikey was found dead only hours after returning from a night out to remember his friend Martin.

Launched in December last year, Mikeysline already offers support via text messages and is staffed by volunteers.

Ron Williamson - uncle to Mikey - is the man behind Mikeysline. He says the new app is an aid, but not a cure-all for young people needing help:-

The app - aimed at 14 to 20 year olds - will give a chance for people to log their mood, provide tips on how to cope better, and flag up other groups who can also help.
