LISTEN: Lossie raft race looks for wave of support from the local community

Always a popular feature in the calendar, the esplanade's set for Sunday's 'Olympics-themed' race.

The Lossie Raft Race takes place this Sunday (7th of August) with several teams vying for honours in the traditional DIY nautical tussle.

Once again, MFR Cash For Kids is a nominated charity, and also defending the Fleetwood Trophy which they won in 2015's 'Battle of Britain' themed event.

This year - right in time for RIo - it's an Olympic theme for 2016, and as organiser Ollie Harbridge explains, the event is usually keenly contested:-

The event takes place on the estuary of the River Lossie, starting at the old wooden bridge, out to a buoy, and then back to the back to the bridge.

The competition is set to start at 15:00hrs.
