Police are investigating the murder of a woman found dead at a house which was at the centre of another murder case 10 years ago.

The body of 60-year-old Elizabeth Mackay, or Muir, was discovered on Thursday afternoon at a property in Kintail Court in the Hilton area of Inverness.

Our reporter John Rose went to the scene:

Officers are carrying out door-to-door inquiries and reviewing CCTV footage.

They have appealed to anyone who may have seen Ms Mackay recently.

These residents are shocked:

The body of hairdresser Ilene O'Connor was found buried in a garden at Kintail Court in 2006.

Brian Grant was jailed for life for the killing of the 39-year-old Inverness woman.

Detective Chief Inspector Keith Hardie said: We are at the very early stages of the investigation and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen seen

Elizabeth in the days leading up to Thursday.

This lady has lost her life and we need to piece together the circumstances. I would encourage anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious to contact police.''

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
