Six points from the last five games has helped move Inverness off the foot of the table, but management and players alike know that keeping momentum will be key to their SPFL Premiership survival.

Last time out it ended 1-1 in the Highland Derby, and despite a promising start to the second half following Greg Tansey's opener, Inverness were unable to press home their advantage.

Defender Jamie McCart believes that Caley Thistle can take heart from recent results which have kept the points ticking over: "We lifted ourselves off the bottom of the table which was a massive boost, but we need to keep things going, every game's a massive game from now until the end of the season"

McCart, who played the full 90 minutes of Tuesday's 0-0 encounter with Estonia for Scotland Under-21s said: "The lads have been training really hard during the international break and we're just looking to keep up that momentum from the previous game (against Ross County)"

"Sooner rather than later, you'll see the likes of Billy and others take those chances"

"The positive is that we are creating chances, and I think sooner rather than later, you'll see the likes of Billy (McKay) and others take those chances and the goals'll start flooding in"

McCart is delighted having already made five appearances for Inverness that he's getting his chance to contribute to Caley Thistle's recent upturn in form:-

This weekend it's Kilmarnock at home, who have collected seven points in their five matches since Lee Clark's departure.

"Kilmarnock will be a difficult encounter, we'll both be up for it", said McCart, "We've had quite a few draws in recent weeks, and the match two weeks ago against Ross County was disappointing to concede so late on"

"But if we can keep defending and playing and pressing like we have been then the goals will keep coming and so will the wins"

"Killie have a good mix in their side, some experience but some good young players also, but we can only focus on ourselves really"

Tuesday it's a trip to Aberdeen for Inverness, and arguably the match on Saturday, coupled with the last match before the league split, present the best opportunities for ICT points.

That said, McCart feels the fate of Caley Thistle is still very much in their hands: "We're always positive going into games, and it's about how we turn up and perform and our intensity"

"The bottom six is so tight - we still keep saying that - and if we'd got the win two weeks ago, it could've even drawn Motherwell into the mix, but you can only focus on the next game, no point in looking at what's behind us"

"We can only keep positive, keep trying and keep moving away from the bottom two places"
