Vandals have been condemned for spray painting obscene graffiti on the Inverness flood scheme.

Police are appealing for information to help trace those responsible.

It's hoped they may have been captured on nearby CCTV cameras on Huntly Street.

John West from the Inverness Civic Trust said: "People are very disappointed and very angry that this has happened.

"It's obviously someone that has done this mindlessly and they have to be caught.

"There is CCTV coverage of that area and I hope that will be handed to police for them to follow up."

A police spokesperson said: "At around 09:35 hours on Saturday 15 May 2015, Police Scotland received a report of vandalism from a member of the public, which consisted of graffiti in both the Huntly Street and Greig Street Bridge areas.
