The wife of a Raigmore scientist screening Ebola patients in Sierra Leona says she has no concerns about his safety.

Neil Spence travelled to the West African country 2 weeks ago.

The 58 year old is working as a team testing DNA samples for signs of the disease.

He's already said to be planning another stint when his current term is up.

Partner Evelyn said: "Once he arrived there, I never felt he was in any danger of catching Ebola.

"When you're involved with it, you're seeing it first hand when we're talking on Skype, and you're aware of everything they're doing.

"He knows what it's like to work with viruses, so he'll be very careful, I have no doubt about that.

"It's a lot more harrowing than they had first anticipated, but he's coping with it well."

Neil will served another 3 weeks before he return home to the Highlands.
