LISTEN: Elderly Inverness man conned out of life savings

Police in Inverness are investigating a reported incident of fraud which took place yesterday in the Fairfield Road area, involving a man in his nineties being cold called by bogus workmen.

An Inverness pensioner’s been conned out of thousands of pounds by bogus workmen.

A group of men were seen cold calling in the Fairfield Road area on Tuesday morning, when they targeted an elderly resident in his nineties.

It’s understood the fraudsters offered to carry out roof repairs and gardening maintenance at a cost of £7,000.

Police say the men, believed to be in their twenties with Scottish accents, were last seen using a red van (registration SE03 ERY).
