LISTEN: Davies determined to deliver derby payback

The Ross County defender wants to "put one over" Caley Thistle after ICT proved to be cup party-poopers last time out

It was a hard defeat to take for Ross County back in March - not just because it was against rivals Caley Thistle - but because their post match plans to parade the League Cup fell flat.

The 3-0 reverse took a little of the fizz out of the celebrations to mark the League Cup success over Hibs, with the open-top bus perhaps not as jubilant as they might've been - had they taken the honours in the derby.

Defender Andrew Davies puts the task at hand simply: "It's a massive game, they've got us a couple of times, and it's important now that we go over there and put one over them"

"They're going to want to put things right as well, but we need to get one over them and win so we can move on this season"

Both sides failed to collect points ahead of this weekend's derby, with Dundee's 3-1 scoreline in Dingwall, coupled with Partick's 2-0 success over ICT.

Davies says: "We're a really good counter-attacking team, but obviously it was disappointing conceding three goals at home (against Dundee)"

"We've got to put things right and it'll take a bit of time to work on things - we have a few new boys here - but we'll be working hard in training throughout the season and we've got a good bunch here"

"Last season was a fantastic season, I don't know where people thought we were going to finish, but we must build on that, we must be looking for top six. With a few more additions I'm sure we can manage that"

"I'm sure the manager's busy working on getting new players in, because we will get injuries throughout the season it is a long season, but the core is still here and that's what got us a lot of success, we just all need to be that bit better than last season"

There also - until recently - had been speculation on Davies' own future, with the defender eyeing a move back to the north-east of England. However now he is now committed to County and the season ahead:-

Here's what manager Jim McIntyre had to say on the good news over Davies' future:-
