Craigellachie Bridge features as a first class stamp on newly launched Royal Mail stamps today.

Royal Mail vans working in Moray will also carry an image of the stamp.

The Bridges stamp issue is aimed at celebrate leaps in UK engineering.

The River Spey crossing was famously designed by Thomas Telford and completed in 1814. It's noted for its single 46-metre-long cast iron structure.

MFR Reporter Derek Ferguson speaks with Royal Mail's Julie Pirone about the stamp...

Giles Sumner of the Friends of Craigellachie Bridge group said: “It is absolutely wonderful to have Telford’s iconic Craigellachie bridge feature on a Royal Mail stamp especially in its 200th year.

"The bridge already has its own Strathspey reel, whisky label and it has featured on hundreds of photographs, calendars and books and we are delighted to be able to add a Criagellachie bridge stamp to the list. “

Andrew Hammond, Head of Stamps and Collectibles at Royal Mail, said: “The story of Britain’s engineering genius can be found in its bridges.

"These new stamps celebrate ten beautiful and ground-breaking landmarks that span centuries of our history.”
