LISTEN: City face must-win to maintain lingering League Two title hopes

Elgin City hope to bounce-back from defeat at Stirling when they host Arbroath this Saturday

Daniel Moore says Elgin City face "a big ask" of the players if they're to make ground on League Two leaders Forfar - especially after the Black & Whites' 1-0 defeat at Stirling on Tuesday.

"Stirling probably deserved it, we didn't play well", says the Elgin winger, "We weren't at our best - a bit like at Berwick - but unlike Saturday where we ground out a 1-0 win, we thought we might've been able to get a point at Stirling, so it was disappointing to lose the stoppage time goal"

This Saturday Elgin City - still with a game in-hand - play host to Arbroath, who currently sit just above them in second, four points ahead.

"The first time we played Arbroath we should've beaten them, we missed a lot of chances, and then there was a mistake right at the end that gave them the only goal"

"Second time round at their place in December, we were 2-0 in front early in the second-half and then we end up losing the game 3-2, so we're definitely due a result against them and it could take us closer to them in second"

Tuesday's defeat was the first time in 13 games (since November) that Elgin City have failed to score, and once again leading goalscorer Shane Sutherland missed out, having limped off in the 4-1 victory over Clyde last month.

That said, Daniel believes manager Jim Weir has some good options at his disposal for mixing up his starting XI should he need to freshen his side in the closing phase of the 2016-17 season:-

A win over Arbroath could put City seven points behind the leaders Forfar, with a game in-hand, and a match against them still to come at Borough Briggs later this month. Defeat would push Arbroath further clear of City, opening up a seven point gap.

Ahead of Saturday Daniel says "I think both of us have high hopes of catching leaders Forfar, Arbroath probably more so because they're closer to them, so even a draw on Tuesday night wouldn't have helped that much, we have to make that gap up"

"Forfar probably will have a spell (of defeats) and some of their recent results have been surprising, but with that we need to capitalise - if we don't we'll obviously never catch them - it's going to be a big ask, but we can only do our best"
