Airport bosses are being urged to get round the table as soon as possible with striking security workers.

It's the 2nd day of strike action by staff over pay and conditions.

HIAL says disruption is being kept to a minimum and travellers are being advised to check in earlier.

The Prospect union says industrial action could roll into the summer months if a solution isn't found.

However, a business group is concerned about the potential impact of prolonged strike action.

MFR News speaks with Fraser Grieve from the SCDI about the threat of continued strike action...

Regional Director for the Scottish Council for Development and Industry Fraser Grieve said:

"It's concerning that people might be put off travelling, but it's encouraging that delays have been kept to a minimum.

"I hope this dispute can be brought to a close as soon as possible.

"We wouldn't want to see this dispute have any negative impact on the north economy, and we would like to see a resolution as soon as possible."

HIAL insists it's "business as usual" despite disruption.

A spokesperson said: “It remains business as usual across the majority of HIAL airports today, with 10 of the 11 airports operating as normal.

"Only scheduled services between Dundee and Stansted are suspended today.

"All other services are scheduled to operate.

"There are no delays to flights due to strike action.

“Passengers intending to fly from one of HIAL’s airports today are reminded to arrive 15-20 minutes early for their flight and limit the amount of liquids and luggage they bring to the airport.

"We are grateful to passengers for their patience and cooperation.”
