LISTEN: Burke adds to County competition in wide areas
Ross County sign-up former Rangers and Brimingham winger Chris Burke until the end of the season
Having looked for further competition in the flanks, Ross County manager Jim McIntyre has added experienced campaigner Chris Burke to the Ross County ranks.
Speaking to MFR News, the 32-year-old said: "It's all happened fairly quickly, but I've been very impressed, the facilities have shocked me as it's as good as some of the places in the Championship. It's great to see, the manager's been true to his word when he sold me the club"
The former Cardiff, Birmingham, Nottingham Forrest and latterly Rotherham (loan) player returns north seven years after leaving Rangers.
"I know Paul Quinn very well - obviously from my time at Cardiff - and I used to keep in touch with him fairly regularly, also Jay McEveley from having played against him"
"I do keep an eye on the Scottish game and I was aware of how well County have done. It shows you what the manager wants and how he looks to improve the club - he's not keen on settling on last season's achievements"
Despite the switch to the Highlands, Burke doesn't see any issues with settling in and competing for a place at County:-
"I hope to bring my experience, but I'm here to win matches and to contribute to a team who've already done very well last season, and obviously looking to progress this season"
Looking at his return to Scottish football, Burke is eager to make his mark, but he doesn't feel as though his focus will be on adding to his seven caps (and two goals) for the national side.
"Gordon Strachan's got a magnificent squad, the way they played the last time was fantastic, they're already looking at coming through qualifiers and stepping on whereas I'm just focussing on pushing into the first team here with Ross County and getting back to enjoying my football"
