The A82 has reopened after a successful operation to remove boulders from a nearby slope.

The road near Invermoriston was closed on Thursday after rockfall blocked the road.

After clearing the way, surveyors then found 2 larger boulders on a slope at risk of falling.

A helicopter was drafted in as part of an operation to remove them.

However, safety crews say more work could be needed in future to combat potential rockfall incidents.

MFR Reporter Derek Ferguson speaks with Alexander Macleod from the Forestry Commission about the operation...

A82 Project Officer for the Forestry Commission Alexander Macleod said: "Our team put in a catch fence in very dangerous and challenging conditions.

"On 2 occaisions we had to bring in a helicopter to transport materials and equipment to the site.

"Our inspectiors have indentified other areas of concern on the slope and it's likely there will be more work there.

"In the longer term, we'll make the hillside more stable against these storm events, improving the resilience of the A82."
