Efforts to maintain and improve the mental health and wellbeing of people in Moray will see the start of a 10 year strategy in the district during this week - national Suicide Prevention Week (Sep. 5th - 11th).

The campaign to reduce the number of lives lost each year will also be marked with a new mobile app aimed at preventing suicides in the North-East.

The Moray strategy sets out to provide opportunities for better promotion, prevention and early intervention in mental health while creating more responsive and effective recovery focused services for people with mental health problems, said Alasdair Walker, Mental Health Services Manager:

The Prevent Suicide North East Scotland app provides personalised plans for help - along with direct contacts to local services and support groups. The app also has content to help those whose loved ones have been lost to suicide.

The app can be downloaded for free through online stores and can be accessed online here
