Lead stolen from Auldearn cottage

Police in Nairn are appealing for information following the theft of a substantial quantity of lead from the roof of a cottage with the cottage within the grounds of Boath House, Auldearn.

The theft was discovered around 1pm on Friday, November 30. It is believed the theft occurred sometime after 12pm on Thursday, November 29.

Constable Dan Whittingham said, “The people responsible for this theft would have taken some time to strip the roof of its lead, likely requiring ladders and a vehicle.

I would appeal to anyone who may have any information regarding this theft, to contact Police Scotland using the 101 number and quoting crime reference NM/3287/18. I would also ask owners of vulnerable properties in the area to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police.
