Kristoffer Ajer says he wants to leave Celtic this summer
The defender is entering the final year of his contract at the club
Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer has admitted he wants to leave the club.
The 23-year old has one year left on his Parkhead contract and believes now is the right time to move on.
He has been linked with moves to Premier League sides Newcastle and Norwich City in recent weeks.
Speaking at Norway's training camp in Spain, he revealed moving on this summer would make sense.
He said: “With one year left of my contract, that would be the best solution for me and my club.
"Something is going to happen this summer.
"There are many rumors, and right now there are only rumors.
"I have one year left on my contract and I'm sticking to it.
"It is clear that something will happen this summer".
Ajer says he hopes to move to one of the elite leagues in Europe.
He said: "In terms of club I do not want to go into anything. We'll get to that later, but it's a top 5 league I aim for."
"You have to be careful with what you say to the media.
"For those outside, it is difficult to understand how important football is in Glasgow.
"There could have been 120,000 spectators if only the stadium had been expanded.
"I have gained good experience after playing almost 180 games for a top club like Celtic.
"I have experienced how football can be on good and bad days. So it has been a very good experience".
