Kezia Dugdale: "I Am Determined To Renew Scottish Labour Party"
The Scottish Labour leader wants voters to see a re-energised and refreshed party'' as members prepare for their party conference this week.
Kezia Dugdale said she is aware of the big challenges'' the party faces but remains confident about the future, with Scottish Parliament elections looming next May.
Around 1,000 people are expected to attend the party conference in Perth with speakers including Ms Dugdale and UK Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
The final day of the conference has been designated as members' day'' where party members will decide what is debated, raising the possibility of a discussion on Scottish Labour's position on Trident, an issue that splits opinion in the party.
Speaking ahead of the conference, which starts of Friday, Ms Dugdale said: This is an exciting time for Scottish Labour. We go into our conference in Perth well aware of the big challenges we face but confident about the future.
I want people to look at Scottish Labour under my leadership and see a re-energised, refreshed party that has positive things to say about the future.
I want conference to be about building for the future. That applies to both the Scottish Labour Party and the country.
I am determined to renew Scottish Labour so that we are fit for the future.
That means a new generation of candidates; giving members a say in what happens in our party; and ensuring gender equality in the list of new candidates we put to the public.
I want to go to the voters in May and say: 'Here is your new, refreshed, changed Scottish Labour Party; take a fresh look and put your trust in us again'.''
She added: We'll be setting out the radical change we want to see in Scotland and we'll be saying to voters: If you want that change, it can't just be more of the same with an SNP that hasn't used the powers it has and has no vision for the new powers that are coming.
We won't be afraid to say what we will do with the new powers.''
