Two friends are hoping to break the world record for the fastest journey of the Loch Ness by tandem kayak.

James Reilly and Ted Simpson will take on the 23mile length of the Loch on 16 July.

The duo needs to beat a time of 5 hours and 19 minutes to win the title.

They’re also hoping to raise cash for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Both students, Ted studies history at the University of Edinburgh and James is a medical student at the University of Bristol.

They’ve already completed the Caledonian Canal trip, canoeing from Fort William to Inverness as part of their training.
