The First Minister has said he is prepared to meet with the family of murdered banker Alistair Wilson.

John Swinney said while "there is a limit to what I can do" he would meet to hear their concerns.

Mr Wilson, 30, was murdered on November 28 2004 at his home in Nairn in the Highlands.

Responding to a question from former Tory leader Douglas Ross during First Minister's Questions, Mr Swinney said: "I would be prepared to meet with Mrs Wilson and her family to hear of their anguish.

"There will be a limit to what I can do, but if it provides any assistance or support to their family that the First Minister is prepared to listen to their concerns then I am prepared to do that."

Earlier this week, Alistair's son Andrew outlined how he "still has nightmares" about his dad's murder.

Then aged four, Andrew saw his father lying in a pool of blood after he was shot at their home.

In September, Scotland's top law officer Lord Advocate Dorothy Bain KC ordered a complete reinvestigation of the case with a new team of police officers and prosecutors.

Police Scotland Chief Constable Jo Farrell has said officers have a "resolute determination" to solve the murder, but the Wilson family have questioned whether she is fit to lead the force.
