Inverness boss John Hughes saluted defender Gary Warren after the stand-in skipper extended his contract until 2019.
The club announced the news before the 0-0 draw against Partick Thistle and Hughes was quick to laud the abilities of the experienced Warren.
Former Newport County man Warren still had another year left on his original deal before signing the two-year extension, which will take him up to seven years at Inverness upon completion.
The thing about football is, we all play to win - great,'' said Hughes.
In football you have friends for life and you bump into them for the rest of your life. But you can count in one hand how many are above that in terms of being a gentleman. Gary Warren is one of them.
We should be privileged he is playing his football up here in Inverness because he is above the rest of them - a real good, strong character.''
However, that good news did not transfer on to the pitch on Saturday as his side played out a poor 0-0 draw with Partick Thistle.
Hughes again lamented the loss of key players at the start of the season as his side struggled to create up front, which was not helped this week by losing new signing Alex Fisher for two months with a foot injury.
If you lose Marley Watkins, Billy Mckay, Ryan Christie - that wee link-up player who can unlock the door - we're struggling a bit in the top end,'' he said.
We're looking in that department and trying to get a player of that calibre to help us along.''
His Partick Thistle counterpart Alan Archibald was pleased with the minor progress his side made, moving up one place in the table to eighth following Motherwell's loss to Ross County.
We can only concentrate on ourselves - we've moved up a place but we know that can change week by week. We need to keep building on this because last week was a sore one, so it was good to get a clean sheet after losing four,'' he said.
We had to get a reaction and we did that. We looked more organised whereas last week we didn't. We need to look a threat going forward as well.''
